Live Journal

Well I'm happy to say my math was off (surprise, surprise) and we only need 84 comments and 42 posts, so I think I'm about done.  I think Live Journal was a really great way to get us all communicating, becoming friends, getting to know one another.  It wasn't such a pain if you do a little bit, frequently.  At first I thought, "aw man, what am i going to write about?" but it wasn't as difficult as I thought to come up with stuff.  I think most of mine were class oriented and we generally did something semi-fun or interesting every class period.  Yay.

Research Project II

The process paper really seems like a piece of cake now.  One page?  Sheesh.  Now if I can fit it all into one page (i get rather long winded sometimes).  How-to papers can be difficult, you don't want to get bogged down into too much detail.  "How I researched"  ugh, i don't like that very much, but it is do-able.   Our group is meeting tomorrow in the library, so that'll be good we can get some stuff coordinated.  I'm doing 4 posters for us, one for each candidate.  I have to make them PRETTY!  I hope this project goes well.  It's a weighty thing, and it's the last thing we have to do.  Let's suck it up and get through it people!

Today's class was helpful.  I'm very glad Prof. Gunderson gave us the essay question.  Now I need to study up and get prepared.  AND the review sheet comes today!  I sure hope there are not 90 terms like there have been on the previous ones, but I can't see how that'd be possible, it doesn't seem very long since we took the last test and we haven't covered THAT much info, right?  The last test went pretty well, so hopefully this one will too.  8a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday right?  We can do it!  The last day of class and the test are approaching fast.  Everyone fasten your seatbelts, eat a good breakfast, and get ready!  (not necessarily in that order)

National Treasure II

National Treasure was a fun movie.  I'd completely forgotten that I'd seen it with my dad.  It was not my first choice.  In fact, I saw the first one almost accidentally.  Ha.  It was on at a friends house and I watched it and I laughed my ass off.  I love Nicholas Cage.  Then my dad, who loves those kinds of themes, treasure hunts, conspiracies, archeology, etc., asked me to go see the second with him (because I do too)  and we enjoyed it.  A little cheesy yes, but I liked it.  I saw people speculating how the treasure cleared his family name, and I think it was to show that the reason that page was taken from the diary was because of the treasure hunt cryption on the back, not to cover up who was "in on it".  But i guess that doesn't necessarily make sense either so maybe we missed something that they crappily explain in the beginning.  Well, anyway, good choice prof. Gunderson.  I was surprised we didn't watch something older and mayble less obscure to us younguns, but it was a fun choice anyway.

I think I've kept all my posts very class oriented, so i think I have more of those free posts than I thought.  (I hope?)
So I want to tell you all how incredibly beautiful the clouds were this morning.  I woke up late, feeling kinda gloomy today.  I had a full weekend of fun and now i'm kinda drained with a messy apartment, rent to worry about, papers to write, a research project I refuse to procrastinate on, and a newly started AVON business with an order due Thursday and I have not given out any books.  yikes.  Well anyway, I roll out of bed, quickly get ready for school and head out the door.  The whole way to school I'm driving northbound on the dallas tollway.  I notice how lovely the clouds look, so numerous and fluffy, yet flat on the bottom due to high winds.  Very SIMPSONSY.  Then when I exit Lebanon and start heading eastbound, to the south I see, with the sun behind the clouds, the MOST BEAUTIFUL CLOUDS that reflected so much light that I saw lovely colors of pink and a little bit of orange swirling around in their countours.  They were more pronounced and outlined with the sun behind them and it was breathtaking!  I hope someone else saw and admired them.

I'm wearing a purple scarf, and it seems to be suffocating me

Well I'm just a little worried now:  Rent is due Midnight of the third.  I currently have all but 170 dollars of it.  That's not good.  I am scheduled to work tonight and tomorrow night, off wednesday.  That's two shifts in which to make the money.  However, I just got a call from my manager asking if I'd like the night off.  Mind you, I also have two papers due in my Philosophy class on Wednesday, so I'm feeling cruched for time on those as well as the need to make money for rent.  But i can't take the night off!  I have to make whatever money I can, but I fear that won't be much because there is only 3 covers on the books besides a large party that I will not be working.  That's three whole people for another server and I to share.  Haha, that sucks.  We pretty much gage our nights based on our reservations (covers) so I know this is going to suuuuuck.  I've never cut it this close to rent.  I spent too much money this month. bah.  Finances.  Important to get a grip on those.  I'm glad I deal with cash, I'm pretty good at keeping up with it, and I write down every transaction on my credit card (check card) so I know what I have in my account at all times!  Importante!

Wish me luck folks

The Research Project

I will admit, I have not done very much on my portion of the research project, yet.  I do however understand how important this portion of the class is to our grade.  Unfortunately it comes at the very end when we are all crunching in our other classes and this one and already slipping into winter break laziness.  I will not procrastinate on this.  I will work on it, and get it done, make it creative, make it pretty.  This is 20% of our grade folks.  Let's get it done!  Good luck to all

Posts posts and more posts

Well I didn't do too terribly keeping up with this thing.  I currently have 36 posts, (we need 45) and 74 comments posted (we need 90) So I'm not too far behind, but far enough considereing tomorrow is the deadline.  Does anyone know how this will be graded?  Will we be penalized per comment/post missing?  I wonder how everyone else is doing.  I also realized I don't think everyone has befriended me and I wonder if I'm missing out on fun posts from our class mates.  Lol.  Oh well, you guys were good enough :)

Good luck to all.  Let's get postin!

The All Souls discussion with Michael Patrick MacDonald was really great.  He seems like such a strong, down to earth guy. (And I decided he looks a lot like Dennis Quade)

First of all the Event Center is WAY TOO SMALL.  It's not a center, it's a freakin room!

Second of all Go Cowboys!

Third of all and back to the discussion, I didn't realize that Easter Rising was parallel to All Souls and would fill in a lot of the missing parts about Michael's personal life outside of Southie.  That sounds really interesting and I want to read it.  In fact, Ashley and Kim and I have formed a book club and it will be the first book we read!  :)  I told Kim, "I really want to read that book, I hope I actually read it"  and she laughed at me.  But come on, in all honesty how many books have you said you were going to read but you just never seemed to get around to it?!

MPM really wrote his heart and personal grief and triumph into these books.  It is raw.

I'm hungry, but what else is new.

See you folks bright and early in the AM

I just got to campus (3:45pm) and I'm ready to do my portion of the research for the group projects.  I wanted to get here late enough so I wasn't here all day, but early enough to work on my project and then be able to get to the event center early (6) and get a good spot for the All Souls conference tonight.  I'm excited about that.  The writer's workshop was really neat!  He asked everyone to write about a room.  Then some people read their descriptions.  Michael showed us how we can learn so much about the author just from hearing what they choose to describe and how.  It was fun.  He signed my book!  Then I freaked out because I thought I'd locked my keys in my car, but I just left them in the conference room on the table with all the muffins and bagels.  Lol.  Thankgoodness they werent locked in my car!  Well gots to get to reasearchin!

See you guys tonight

The School Databases seem helpful, yet restrictive.  For my particular purposes of looking up specific facts about the personal background of Lincoln and Breckinridge, I think Google will do just fine, and a book from the good ol library.  It was cool to learn about the LRC though becuase I knew nothing about it.

Using that laptop really made me want one so bad!  I really just need a computer period.

Why does it seem like the first half of the semester we do nothing, or very little, and the second half we're overbooking everything and taking all kinds of tests while writing papers and researching and shit?  Yikes.  I almost wish it was full steam ahead since the beginning : /

I'm really really sleepy and I have to work our 20 year anniversary dinner at Roy's tonight.  85 dollar all inclusive five course dinner with wine pairings, it should be really awesome!  Hope I make some money because I'm definitely poor now.

See you all Thursday!

Lights out

I'm so so so sleepy.  I must make  a rule that I have to get into bed by midnight on Mondays and Wednesdays so i can get the HELL  up on Tues, and Thurs.  Actually, when I awoke this morning to my phone alarm, (thank goodness I set a phone alarm), I looked at my actual alarm clock and it was shut off - my electricity was out.  The storm had knocked it out during my sleep.  I kinda walked around my dark apartment for about ten minutes unsure of what to do, I was sooo sleepy.  I called my mom, lol, and she told me I could get ready at her house.  Then I lit some candles and got in the shower, but not untIl I flipped on the light switch so if the electricity came on, I'd notice.  IT did.  YAY and thankgoodness or I would have been even more late to class.  I wonder who was the first to wake up in our complex and notice it was out?  I wonder how much of the complex was down?  I'm so glad it came back on though.  Nap time. almost

I'm super excited about next Thursday!  The Writer's Workshop with Michael Patrick MacDonald should be very interesting.  I'm actually going to see him day and night because I will be attending the evening session as well.  What a fun filled day :)  I'm glad we don't have to be there till 10am as well :)
I do however wish I could work on the group project with a few of my mates who are going to be coming to this campus.  Sorry folks, but I'll try and make it up.  We need to decide exactly what we're gonna do for our videos, and when.  Good thing we can get together on Tuesday.

I'm on the last day of my three day stretch off work.  I'm going to do some studying, work out, clean my room, do some laundry, and hopefully get to bed at a decent hour.  (ha, yeah right)

I need to buy new JEANS! O my goodness.  I had two pairs of "hydrolique" jeans and I loved them and they both started ripping within two months of each other, IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT, left inner thigh.  They're so secretly obscene because you can't really see them when I'm standing up.  Ha. weird.  anyway, new jeans.

Well I'm off to EAT.  Bye folks, see ya'll Tuesday

On the speeches

I enjoyed Obama's speech.  When he spoke of the 106 year old woman,  mentioned so many historical events that she has lived through, and then finished by saying this year she touched her finger to a screen...  that was very moving.  When he spoke to the other nations, I felt America being empowered.  The unity both parties seem to be encouraging is refreshing.  I'm glad the election is finally over.  We have our new president and I just hope America will come out better for it.

Goodness, when I was younger, in middle school, even high school, it felt like the discovery of America was soooooo long ago.  And even though the discovery itself still seems that way, the United States of America in 1776 was not.  We are only on our 44th president.  We have only been around for a little over 200 years.  That really isn't that long ago, and it's pretty amazing to me to see how far we've come.

Hoorah

AMABO KARAB - -- That's kinda funny. what a strange name.

I wasn't able to vote.  I went to the U building and my name was on the list, but I haven't lived in Collin County in four years, so my registration was suspended, and since I hadn't registered for Denton County, I couldn't vote.  O well, McCain got my vote anyway in this big red state of ours.  I was surprised to find out it was fairly close.  But
I believe everything happens for a reason, and I certainly hope President Obama can do some good things for this country.

I dont' want to procrastinate on this group project.  I'm really really bad about that, I don't know about you other folks in my group, but I will soon post my schedule so we can figure out when we can get together and work on it.  I wonder how many days in class we will be working on it?  I work every weekend Fri, Sat, and Sun night, so those are pretty out for me.  I could possibly get together earlier in the morning and early afternoon because I don't go into work till about 4. But I also usually have a couple nights off a during the week.  So we'll see whats up.

I'm glad we already got the history review.  The last one took me soooo long to go through, I'm glad I'll have more time to work on it this time.

I have to work tonght, so I'm gonna skidaddle.  see ya'll bright and early

LAAA LAAA LAAA

I hope this project will go well!  It sounds simple enough and we have ample time to do it!  (no procrastinating!!!!)  Our group already has some good ideas!

P.S. to my group - I don't have the internet at home, so I know I said "we'll just talk on livejournal" but after today I won't be back on here till Monday.  If anyone needs to get a hold of me, just call 469-441-3824.  I can do whatever needs to be done.  Thanks guys.

Anyway.  That little surprise quiz wasn't too bad, and I think it's very helpful to do that: encourages remembrance.

UGH I'm about to take a little server test that's pretty much the equivalent of the TABC test.  What a pain.  : /
There goes a few hours of my life.  And I work tonight and there's a Halloween party to attend!!!!! oh my I hope I get out of work at a decently early time.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!  See you Tuesday!  With your comparison papers ready!   ; )

I came to the library yesterday after we finished class and I finished my All Souls paper.  I figured I'd better do it while all the corrections were fresh in my head.  It still took like four "logins" in the library to complete it.  It's amazing how fast time flies when your trying to write a paper quickly.  But I feel like that is a major weight lifted off my back.  Now for the pressure of my Philosophy papers.  I'd like to get at least one done today, but I'm already ready to go home and not be sitting here in the library.  Wish me luck. Leibniz leibniz leibniz.  I just took a quiz over Spinoza and I know I got one wrong, but I did get the extra credit right so hopefully they'll cancel each other out.  Plus now I'm thinking of Spinoza's philosphy and not Leibniz so I gotta get my head back to Leibniz.  ay yi yi

Halloween Costumes

Well, this one's gonna make you all laugh.  I grew up very Christian.  My parents did not believe in "celebrating" Halloween or anything Halloween "stood for".  But of course they knew kids love CANDY and that I, being a kid, wanted candy on Halloween.  So they would let me dress up as an Angel.  I was a cute little Angel with a pretty white robe like gown that my mom made for me, she also bought me some really pretty wings that strapped around your arms like a back pack, and she made me a silver sparkly halo to attach to my head.  A silver rope belt, and some white shoes, and I was such a cute angel!!!  Ha.  Well, I guess it's even funnier that that was my costume for like 4 years.  LOL.  Then there was the time that we got a bunch of friends together to make Hippie costumes.  We cut out the bottom side seem of old jeans and added cool material to make bell bottoms, we took shorts, sewed up the bottom legs and made awesome purses, and decorated everything with peace signs, flowers, and jewels and had such a hippie blast.  That was a lot of fun, and maybe my favorite because it took some extensive preparation, and not just in the mirror preparation.  But in recent years, I have been The Sun (which was so bright and sparkly and fun!) and a hooker (which was hot and ridiculously sparkly and fun) and this year I want to be a sexy robotic waitress.  Haha, we'll see how that one goes.

So I'm feeling just a little stressed.  On the Agenda for today: select which essays I will write about for Philosophy.  Read Spinoza's Ethics and study notes for quiz tomorrow.  Work on re-writing All Souls paper.  Eat something, for the love of God.  Go to work at 6:00pm and hopefully make a bill.

Tomorrow:  Get up at a decent hour, prepare for quiz.  Class/Quiz 1:00-2:15pm.  Finish All Souls paper.  Start on Wine project for Roy's.  Start on Philosophy take home exam essays. Enjoy what I can of my night off work.

Thursday: Get the hell up and get to class on time.  Turn in All Souls paper, and begin group project.  Finish wine project and get to work by 4:00pm.... HALLOWEEN PARTY at Anna's!

Friday:  Sleep in???!!!  Finish wine project (or start it and complete it) and then get to work by 4 pm.

I guess it's not that bad of a schedule.  But I like my free time.  School school school. work work work.  I'm hungry.  Talk to ya;ll later!!
